If there was one good thing to take away from this game, it was that the Maple Leafs normally flaccid PP managed to generate a decent amount of chances, including several quality opportunities. If the Leafs PP could do this consistently, surely they'll get some better luck eventually and start improving their scoring percentage.

Otherwise, this was one of the worst games, if not the worst, ES-wise for Toronto. The 4 chances recorded at evens is the lowest by the Leafs in a single game this season. They were skunked in the 2nd, needing a late-period PP to pick up a couple of chances.

Ian White had the worst ES differential at -7.

The Capitals generated over a handful of high-quality scoring chances and scored on almost every single one.

Niklas Hagman led the Leafs with five scoring chances off his stick, including three quality chances, two of those which were A-grade (high quality) chances in my view (the initial and rebound shots almost four minutes into the game). All five shots were in the first period.
