A bad way to go out before the Olympic break, as the Leafs not only allowed two short-handed goals against in the 2nd period, but their PP was outchanced by the Blues PK 3-0, and over the whole game managed only 3 chances in 12:22 of PP time and they weren't of the very best quality either. The Blues definitely outdid the Leafs for quality as well as quantity. Stempniak was the standout last night, as he generated the best chances for the Leafs and was 6-0 at ES.

The Olympic break is here at last! At one point I thought I was going to give it up weeks before last night's game, but the Phaneuf/Giguere trade rekindled my interest in the Leafs and in tracking scoring chances.
Anyway, I'll post the chances data for individual Leafs' up to this point of the season sometime before the regular season resumes, but for now I'm just going to sit back and take a break from the project.

Much thanks to Vic Ferrari of Irreverent Oiler Fans and Timeonice.com for writing the script that does most of the work. All that is necessary for the scoring chance recorder to do is note the period, time left, and the team that got the chance, and the script gives you the players on ice and the team strength (5-on-5, 5-on-4, 4-on5, etc.). Big props to the other recorders as well (see the links under "Scoring Chances for other teams"), keep up the good work!
