The 4th line (Mitchell-Brown-Orr) took a shit-kicking last night. Mitchell ended up with nearly 5 minutes of icetime head-to-head with Mike Cammalleri's line, which got 3 scoring chances against #39 and co. Brent-Versteeg-Sjostrom usually take the tough assignments but their icetime against all the Habs forward lines were pretty balanced. If you combine the results of Brent and Mitchell, you will find that Montreal went 13-1 for EV chances against Toronto's 3rd & 4th lines, or checking lines, or bottom sixers or whatever you want to call them.

Thanks to Vic Ferrari for providing the scoring chance app. to use for this season.

After a good start for the Leafs with the first two goals, Montreal doubled-up on Toronto in the scoring chances tally over the remainder of the game (18-9). By my count the Habs took a heavy amount of higher-quality chances and had some 2nd-chance opportunites, but Giguere saved the day for the B & W with some solid netminding. The Leafs took several penalties in the 2nd period but the much improved PK held the line and kept the Habs from getting the tying goal. Too bad the PP looked just as bad as it did last year. Nice win but I see room for improvement.
