Whew! Game #82 is now in the books and the 2009-10 season is history for the Toronto Maple Leafs, you better believe that comes as a bit of a relief for me. Actually, the scoring chances' project did help make it more interesting and worthwhile for me.

The Leafs were been outchanced in four straight games to close out the season, and were pounded in Montreal. The Habs outshot Toronto 74-46 on total attempts, 58-39 at even-strength but failed to come away with the full two points. Fortunately for the Leafs, the puck was going in for them last night and they won a game that shouldn't have been close according to the shots and chances statistics.

Scoring chance breakdowns will be coming up within the next week or so. I should have several posts worth of interesting data.

CORRECTION (May 27, 2010):

I have reviewed some of my scoresheets and discovered that I accidentally skipped over this scoring chance by Montreal (shot taken by Brian Gionta at the right faceoff dot after receiving a pass) when entering the game data online. Sorry for the error. This chance has been added into the above tables, and the relevant end of year tables have been adjusted to reflect this correction as well as the correction from the Jan. 9/10 game.
